Why Website Speed Matters More Than Ever
Website speed plays a critical role in both user experience and search performance. A slow website increases bounce rates, reduces engagement, and negatively impacts conversions. When we set out to build a high-performance website within a short timeframe, our objective was clear: achieve exceptional speed without compromising usability or design.
Rather than focusing on speed alone, we approached performance as a holistic optimisation process—addressing both front-end and back-end elements to deliver a fast, responsive experience across all devices.
“Every millisecond matters. Faster websites don’t just rank better — they convert better.”
The Optimisations That Made the Difference
To achieve a 98/100 PageSpeed score, we implemented a series of proven performance techniques. Images were compressed and resized without affecting visual quality, while unnecessary HTTP requests were reduced to streamline page loading. Browser caching was enabled to improve repeat visits, and CSS and JavaScript files were minified to reduce file sizes.
Performance was further enhanced using lazy loading for images and media, ensuring only essential elements loaded initially. We also utilised modern front-end frameworks alongside a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to deliver content quickly, regardless of user location.
Throughout the build, continuous testing ensured performance improvements never came at the expense of design. The result was a website that loaded faster, looked great, and delivered a seamless user experience — proving that speed and aesthetics can work together when performance is prioritised from the start.
